Inaugural History Council Awards
The History Council WA was delighted to have launched a major initiative this year being the introduction of an annual History Award.
Judging by the number and range of entries the demand for recognition of history projects and people is in no doubt. Applications for our first awards closed 30 July and we received 20 submissions from a broad cross-section including individuals to group and organisational projects representing the work of students, emerging practitioners, volunteers, seasoned academics, professional and voluntary bodies.
The quality and diversity of submissions will keep our judges busy to determine which one is the stand-out in this round for having made a significant or innovative contribution to Western Australian history and its advocacy. However, more than one award may be presented depending on the decision of the judges. Winner/s will receive either a merit award, an honorary fellowship and/or life membership of the History Council WA depending on what is the most appropriate gesture. The award recipients will be announced at the 2021 History Council’s AGM being held on 27 October.
