2019 Walkley Award for Coverage of Indigenous Affairs

The winners of the 2019 Walkley Award for Coverage of Indigenous Affairs was “The Killing Times”, a collaboration between Lorena Allam, Guardian Australia Team and the University of Newcastle’s Colonial Frontier Massacres research team. The project tells the history of more than a century of armed conflict and resistance along the expanding colonial frontier.  “The Killing Times” is a confronting, compelling and evolving digital series about a highly important chapter in our history. The Walkley Awards champion the highest standards of journalism in Australia. Special congratulations to Professor Lyndall Ryan and WA’s Dr Chris Owen on a brilliant and important project of truth-telling.
