2018 Margaret Medcalf Award

The winner of the Margaret Medcalf Award will be announced at the presentation event to be held on Thursday 28th June, State Library Theatrette at 10am. This year's award will be presented by Hon. David Templeman MLA, Minister for Local Government; Heritage; Culture and the Arts.

The award, established in 2003 and named in honour of Miss Margaret Medcalf OAM (Western Australia's second State Archivist), recognises excellence in referencing and research on Western Australian subjects using State Archives held by the State Records Office WA.  Work can be fiction or non-fiction in any media including published work, student dissertations and theses. Last year's recipient was Dr Criena Fitzgerald for her published history Turning Men Into Stone: a social and medical history of silicosis in Western Australia 1890-1970 [Hesperian Press].
