This year’s Tom Stannage Memorial Lecture will be presented by Professor John Maynard, Chair of Aboriginal History, University of Newcastle and Director, Purai Global Indigenous History Centre. Professor Maynard will examine the Aboriginal voice over many decades challenging understandings and interpretations of Australia’s past since 1788. Professor Maynard will also be presenting an Institute of Advanced Studies Masterclass, “Dreaming of the Past - Aboriginal history: a personal reflection”. Looking back over his 25 years in academia as a historian, Professor Maynard will examine his journey, historical methods and the driving force behind his work.
