This autumn our key focus has been advocating on issues of concern to members. These have included the possible sale of Landgate, the Eastern Guruma and the protection of Ngajanha Marnta (or Spear Hill), Western Australian Births, Deaths and Marriages Records, and fees at the new WA Museum
Carceral Colony Symposium Hosted by UWA Centre for WA History and Fremantle Prison
Historians and Archaeologists from near and far are coming together for a day-long symposium in the world heritage listed Fremantle Prison to present the latest research on convictism in Western Australia.
New Noongar Language and Culture Course

Curtin University launched its Noongar language and Culture MOOC – massive open online course.
Western Australian History Foundation Grants 2018

The Foundation’s grants round this year are now open. Closing date for applications is Friday 3 August.
Heritage Perth Weekend 2018, 20-21 October

Submissions are now open for this year’s Heritage Perth Weekend 2018 to be held on the weekend of 20-21 October.
2018 Margaret Medcalf Award

The winner of the Margaret Medcalf Award will be announced at the presentation event to be held on Thursday 28th June, State Library Theatrette at 10am. This year’s award will be presented by Hon. David Templeman MLA, Minister for Local Government; Heritage; Culture and the Arts.
